Please close your Firefox window
1. Go to the following folder:
C:\Users\Mrrrr\AppData\Local\Mozilla\updates
NOTE: replace Mrrrr with your username.
2. Right click inside the folder and select Properties
3. Go to Security tab
4. Click the Edit button
5. Select your username from the list (in my case it is Mrrrr)
6. Below user name select pane, there is a pane called Permissions for Mrrrr (in your case it is your username of course)
7. Scroll down to an option called Write and select the check box in the Deny column
8. Click on the Apply button and a small box will appear letting you know what denying write in the folder means. Just click Yes
9. Click OK, OK, then open Firefox to check if it's working
10. Go to Help - About
11. Note there's a Check for updates button. You can click on it, it won't update because it can't write the updates folder.
