Say you have 1000 folders, each containing various files: doc, rtf, txt, pdf.
You want to copy all the files into a new folder for easier access, or move all the files to a new folder and delete the empty remaining folders.
Here's what you have to do (tested in Windows 7):
- go to the location of your 1000 folders
- click inside the search field in the top right corner of the explorer window
- insert the following 1 character: *
- wait for it to find everything - it finds all folders and files
- select all the files and cut / copy then paste them to the desired location
