Windows 10, 8 and 7 Spy on You – Here’s How to Stop Them

Code:

KB890830 – Malicious software tool updates.
KB2952664 - Compatibility update for upgrading Windows 7
KB3022345 - (replaced by KB3068708) – This update adds the Diagnostics and
Telemetry tracking service to in-market devices.

KB3035583 – Windows 10 Free Upgrade.

KB3068708 – This update introduces the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service
to existing devices.

KB3075249 – This update adds telemetry points to the User Account Control (UAC)
feature in order to collect data on elevations that come from low integrity
levels.

KB3080149 – This package updates the Diagnostics and Telemetry tracking service to
existing devices.

How do I stop them?

The best way to prevent Windows 7 and 8 from tracking you is to not install the
latest updates. Unlike Windows 10, Windows 7 and Windows 8 updates are not
mandatory, so you can choose not to download the updates.

However, if you have already installed these updates on your computers, you can
remove them completely from your systems and the operating system will not
automatically reinstall them without your permission.

Go to Control Panel > View installed updates > Remove all the updates.

If you want to eliminate these updates faster, you can launch a command prompt
window with administrator privileges and then type in the following commands one
by one:

wusa /uninstall /kb:890830 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:2952664 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:3022345 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:3035583 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:3068708 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:3075249 /quiet /norestart
wusa /uninstall /kb:3080149 /quiet /norestart

Once done, you can right-click on any updates shown by Windows Update and choose
"Hide Update" to make sure that these updates won't be reinstalled in case you
reboot your system.

Additionally, the following entries should also be added to the windows hosts
file:

127.0.0.1 reports.wes.df.telemetry.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 oca.telemetry.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 oca.telemetry.microsoft.com.nsatc.net
127.0.0.1 vortex-sandbox.data.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 pre.footprintpredict.com
127.0.0.1 i1.services.social.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 i1.services.social.microsoft.com.nsatc.net
127.0.0.1 telemetry.appex.bing.net
127.0.0.1 telemetry.urs.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 cs1.wpc.v0cdn.net
127.0.0.1 statsfe1.ws.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 www.bing.com
127.0.0.1 www.msftncsi.com
127.0.0.1 ipv6.msftncsi.com
127.0.0.1 ssw.live.com
127.0.0.1 vortex-win.data.microsoft.com
127.0.0.1 settings-win.data.microsoft.com

This should loopback to 127.0.0.1 without actually sending the privacy violation
data.

Still Pestered By Windows 10 Upgrade?

Code:

Method 1: Uninstall the Windows Update as follow:

Remove the Windows update KB3035583

If the issue persists, follow method 2.

Method 2: Rename the GWXUXWorker.exe

Terminate the GWX.exe process using Task Manager. Moreover rename the
GWXUXWorker.exe and GWX.exe to .old as suffix from directory location:
Windows\System32\GWX, if getting any issues while renaming then give the system
permission's to respective files and then try to rename it again. Or you can
delete the entire directory folder.

If the issue persists, follow method 3.

Method 3: Registry key to stop the notification:

    1. Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the run dialog box.
    2. In the Open field, type regedit.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Click Yes on the User Account Control (if prompted).
    5. Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Gwx

    6. Right click.
    7. Click Modify.
    8. In the Value data: field, dword:00000001.
    9. Click OK.
    10. Exit Registry Editor.

Important this method contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry.
However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly.
Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For added protection,
back up the registry before you modify it.
