The problem I had on a Samsung Galaxy J5 was that when I was trying to save a new contact, I received the "Screen Overlay Detected" Error, then even if I went to Permissions in order to allow access to Storage (which was needed), it didn't work.

The guy in the video went to phone safe mode and there he could give permission to an app to modify storage. Here's how I did it for Contacts.

1. Press power button and shut down phone.
2. Press power on and keep pressing until Samsung name appears, then start pressing Volume Down button, then release Power button. You must keep pressing Volume Down until phone boots to Android OS. On the bottom left side of the screen you should see the text SAFE MODE.
3. Go to Settings - Applications - Application Manager and locate Contacts (or the app that is giving you trouble), then under Permissions flip the switch for Storage (or any other switches you need).
4. After you are done flipping switches, exit Settings and go to desktop, then click on the SAFE MODE text to restart your phone normally.
5. Now try to save a new contact again. Or do what you couldn't do before - it's gonna work now.
