' IMPORTANT
If you want to get all the e-mails in all the folders from your online account into Outlook, eg. Sent, Drafts, personal folders, you must set your e-mail up with IMAP and not POP3.
Therefore, in the POP and IMAP Account Settings window, use the following:
Account Type: IMAP Incoming mail server: imap.mail.yahoo.com Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
As a password, make sure you generate one from your online e-mail account: - go to your nick name at the top right of the e-mail account and click Account info - on the left click on Account Security - input user and pass (for security reasons, obviously) to confirm it's you - at the bottom of the page click on Manage App Passwords - select Outlook Desktop from the list - click on the Generate button - a password will appear, copy it and paste it in Outlook at the window mentioned above - it won't work with your default account password
Now click on the More Settings button -> Outgoing Server tab and click My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication and choose Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Then click on the Advanced tab, select SSL for connection encryption, use 993 for IMAP server and 465 for SMTP server, uncheck Purge items when switching folders while online.
That's it.
The same data can be completed for POP3, but you will only have Inbox folder on PC for getting history e-mails from online server.

These are the correct settings for Outlook - so double-check them, and do make sure you do NOT have the SPA box checked.
Incoming Mail (IMAP) Server - Requires SSL imap.gmail.com Port: 993 Requires SSL:Yes
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - Requires TLS or SSL smtp.gmail.com Port: 465 or 587 Requires SSL: Yes Requires authentication: Yes Use same settings as incoming mail server
Full Name or Display Name: [your name] Account Name or User Name: your full Gmail address (user... @ gmail.com). Google Apps users, please enter user... @ your_domain.com Email address: your full Gmail address (user... @ gmail.com) Google Apps users, please enter user... @ your_domain.com Password: your Gmail password
You may also have to verify your client's access via the web. To do that:
First sign into the Gmail account in a browser on the device where you are setting up your client Go here and enable access for "less secure" apps: Then go here: and click Continue. Then straightaway go back to your client and try again
However, if you use 2 step verification on your GMail account, don't forget that you will also need an application specific password for your client/device. See for how to do that
If none of these suggestions solve the problem, make sure your client or device is not checking your account more often than once every 10-15 minutes. Over-frequent access will generate repeated requests for your password and could cause rejection of your log-in.
