Move pagefile.sys to another drive to save space in C:\
1. Right click on My Computer and select Properties 2. Click on "Advanced system settings" 3. Under the "Advanced" tab, under "Performance" click on the "Settings" button 4. Under the "Advanced" tab, under "Virtual memory" click on the "Change" button 5. Click on another drive (apart from C) and select "System managed size", then click on the "Set" button 6. Click on C drive, select "No paging file", then click on the "Set" button and ignore warning 7. Click OK, OK and OK 8. Restart your computer and pagefile.sys will be moved
Hibernation disable
Chosen option - To Turn Off Hibernate - PART 1: 1. Open Start Menu and search for: power options, then open it 2. Click on "Change plan settings" for the power plan you are using 3. Click on "Change advanced power settings" 4. Expand "Sleep" - "Hibernate after" and in "Setting (Minutes)" write Never 5. Expand "Allow hybrid sleep" and select "Off" 6. Click OK to save your changes 7. Restart and your hibernation file will be gone
SEE POST 2 FOR MORE, BECAUSE THIS DOESN'T PERMANENTLY REMOVE HIBERFIL.SYS - BUT IT HELPS OF COURSE
To enable just undo the above, of course.

Hibernation file hiberfil.sys still there, taking about 12 GB of C:\
Chosen option - To Turn Off Hibernate - PART 2:
I read some more and thanks to techrepublic I was able to remove it from C:\ and truly disable hibernation which I never use.
The only surefire method of disabling Hibernate, and thus removing hiberfil.sys, on Windows Vista and Windows 7, is through the command prompt and the following steps:
1. Open a command prompt with administrative privileges 2. Enter "powercfg.exe -h off" 3. Exit the command prompt 4. As soon as you clear the check box or execute the above powercfg.exe command, Windows should delete hiberfil.sys. If not, you can manually delete it. |
Thanks to:
Re-enabling Windows Hibernate To turn the Hibernate function back on, simply recheck the Enable Hibernation setting under Power Option Properties or enter "powercfg.exe -h on" at a command prompt with administrative privileges. |
