So I received that the System process (PID 4) was locking my device in those sort of folders: $extend\$rmmetadata etc.
The solution to unlock the device seems simple (but read the superuser post above for more info): - Start - Run - compmgmt.msc - Disk Management - Select the troublesome drive - Right click it and select "Change drive letter and paths..." - Click on the letter and press the Remove button, then choose Yes - Wait for it, Computer Management might freeze a bit showing the loading icon cursor. Attention! Don't click the Computer Management window so it doesn't go "Not responding" on you - Once the loading icon cursor is gone, you can unplug the drive - for me once the letter was gone the drive automatically removed itself from Windows - Don't close Computer Management - Now plug the device back in and it will not have a drive letter, thus not load in My Computer - Right click the drive again and select "Change drive letter and paths..." - Press the Add button and assign a letter to it, then click OK
Some user also reported that the Windows Indexing Service was locking his device and suggested to disable that in order to eject the drive: - Right click the drive > Properties > Uncheck Allow files on this drive to have contents indexed in addition to file properties "After disabling contents indexing, I was able to eject the drive."
