In my case I use a tool called Debenu PDF Tools (freeware version) and in the context menu I have 2 items for this:
- Open with Debenu PDF Tools
- Debenu PDF Tools
I only use the latter as it contains the exact tools I need (split, merge PDF files).
But sometimes I open by mistake the first, because they are close to one another, especially when I have to do stuff fast and to multiple PDF files.
So I want to remove the first option and remain only with the tools.
The software doesn't offer this option, to choose what's shown in the context menu.

From the source above I chose the registry version.
- So I went to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers and found a sub-key named PDFTools which for now I can only assume is what I am looking for. The key has a Value data of {1A359BC8-317D-462a-AD1C-51022D771581} which doesn't say much.
- Then I went on and searched for a key with that name: 1A359BC8-317D-462a-AD1C-51022D771581.
Found it below at HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1A359BC8-317D-462a-AD1C-51022D771581} and under the InprocServer32 key I found out Data telling me that the key is for Debenu PDF Tools.
- Now I went back to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers and under the PDFTools sub-key I created a new String named LegacyDisable with no Value data, but it doesn't seem to work instantly as stated in the source site, but it doesn't work. Nor the 3rd option (to make a new String named Extended). So I backup the key (save it as reg file) then delete it - and of course it deletes both the options, not just the one I need.
- So I run the backed up key and add both options back to the context menu.

- I'm thinking that trying the easier way - using NirSoft's ShellExView or ShellMenuView might lead me to the same result, but decide to try it anyway.
- ShellMenuView doesn't show the Debenu options.
- In ShellExView I find the PDFTools Class, but unfortunately it is only 1 entry for both the options.
- Looks like I won't be able to get rid of just one of them.

- I would just have to run Command Prompt (or PowerShell) as Administrator and enter these commands:
cd /d C:\Program Files (x86)\Debenu\PDF Tools
regsvr32.exe /u PDFToolsShell64.dll
