The user from source says removing write protection is only possible on the same computer the write protection was created on (for example if the write protection was created on my computer, you will not be able to remove it on yours - you will have to remove it on my computer).

I received a damaged disk from someone (unrecoverable files) and made a Low Level Format. Upon that, I could not format the drive with NTFS or FAT32, it said the disk is write protected. I didn't write protect it, but maybe the LLF software did, because using the steps below I was able to remove write protection and use the disk (so I assume the write protection was done on my computer).

1. Open CMD as administrator
2. Type DISKPART and hit enter
3. Type LIST DISK and hit enter
4. Locate your USB drive in the list (by size)
5. Type SELECT DISK X (where X is the number located above)
6. Type ATTRIBUTES DISK CLEAR READONLY and hit enter
7. A message appears "Disk attributes cleared successfully".
8. Type exit
9. Remove the USB drive
10. Plug back in the USB drive
11. Now you should be able to format it.
