Before running one of the below registry hacks, you’ll need to check whether you’re using a 64-bit or 32-bit version of Windows 10. You’re probably using the 64-bit version, but you can quickly check if you’re not sure.
To check, open the Start menu and launch the Settings app. Select System, select About, and look next to “System type” to see whether you’re using a “64-bit operating system” or “32-bit operating system.”
1. Open Notepad
2. Save as a .reg file with a suggestive name, for example Remove folders from This PC.reg
3. Copy the desired lines from below into that .reg file and click Save again
4. Run the .reg file to remove the folders
5. You shouldn’t have to restart your PC. However, if the folder doesn’t vanish instantly for some reason, restarting your PC should fix the problem.

To restore them, just lose the minus sign in front of each HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, save the .reg file then run it.
Eg. delete the fuchsia colored sign below:

| Got it. What is the point of the registry tweak in that case? Was the registry tweak the only way to show or hide the user profile folder in older versions of Win10 prior to the "Show all folders" right click selection being available in Explorer? Thanks! |
Some folks don't like how "Show all folders" arranges everything other than "Quick access" under the "Desktop" group in the navigation pane.
This reg tweak allows them to be able to have the User Profile folder as a separate group in the navigation pane, and not have everything under "Desktop" with "Show all folders".
It's basically just one of those personal choice options, but I like to provide choice when able. |
| Ahhh I see. So the registry tweak adds the user folder to the navigation pane as a root directory while the "Show all folders" right click menu adds the user folder as a subfolder under the Desktop root. Right? Thanks! |
