By default this is enabled: - you select a word - drag and drop it with the mouse to a new location to MOVE it - with CTRL pressed you drag the word with your mouse to COPY it to a new location
In case it is not working, it can mean 2 things:
1. You have another dialog box open in Word, like for example the Find / Find & Replace dialog box
2. The option is disabled
You can enable / disable this by going to: - File (or Office button) - Options - Advanced - under Editing options - uncheck "Allow text to be dragged and dropped" option.
