As far as I know this feature is not included in Chrome.
This extension helps if you want to save files by filetype (extension) automatically to the desired subfolders of the download folder set in Chrome as default, eg: - audio files in D:\Downloads\Audio - image files in D:\Downloads\Images - archives in D:\Downloads\Archives etc.
Eg. if I set the default downloads folder as D:\Downloads then subfolders will be created under that folder. If my default downloads folder is Desktop, folders will be created there. There might be a way to make files get moved in other locations with a "trick" - by creating "symbolic links". ~ see below
Using Chrome's native downloader, you are able to choose 1 folder for all file types or be asked every time where to save. You can pin some folders to Quick Access and choose the location every time, anywhere on your PC, or you can use an extension that puts downloads in subfolders in the default download location.
Download Sorter:
Tested and it works.
Apparently creating "symbolic links" (symlinks) would allow you to save files anywhere on your computer - for me it didn't work. Might have done something wrong, dunno.
