I'm an F2 + TAB rename guy and I do it pretty fast, but there's an annoying little glitch I encountered only in Windows 10. Dunno if it was there to begin with or it appeared with an update.

The source refers to a topic that said the problem was in Windows 8 but still is in Windows 10. I completely skipped Windows 8 so I wouldn't know.

Anyway, here's the problem:

I'm trying to rename a file so I hit F2, the filename is selected, I click at the end of it to deselect it and be able to add or delete some letters but in the second it takes me to type Windows 10 re-selects the entire filename so if I'm not paying attention I end up with a few letters in my filename (because I overwrite its name since it's selected).

This happens quite often. Yes, most times I use free renaming software like Bulk Rename Here, but for 2-3 files I don't usually open BRE.

For the last couple of days I tested this solution and found out it's working for me also - now it rarely happens to reselect the filename. The only downside is for people who use Windows Media Player, because the solution requires you to remove it / deactivate it.
1. Open Start and type the word Turn and click on Turn Windows features on or off
2. Locate a folder named Media Features - it should be selected / checked
3. Deselect it and click OK.
4. Restart your computer

Some users claimed that this didn't fixed it for them (see Source of same issue).

One user said it works 90% of the time and I think he is right since I also noticed that it rarely happens now after deactivating Media Features.
