My Microsoft Defender (Windows Security - Virus & threat protection) keeps saying it found a virus, the same one in the same archive in the same place. The fact is I deleted the archive on first detection, before I could use Defender to remove it. I manually deleted the archive in Windows Explorer. Hence the error.
This appeared a few times in the past few days since I keep trying to allow threat, remove, quarantine etc. hoping this would stop showing it. I even tried to quick scan, scan the location where said archive was. Nothing worked.
So.
1. Open Windows Explorer (or This PC) and navigate to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service You have to do it manually, you cannot copy / paste the path above into the address bar.
2. Upon receiving a message: "You don't currently have permission to access this folder" click Continue
3. Check the Current threats in Settings - Update & Security - Windows Security - Virus & threat protection and click See the date of detection of this virus (it's written under its name).
4. Now into the folder you opened at points 1 and 2 above, delete the DetectionHistory folder.
5. Restart your computer
Source & more methods in case the above does not fix your issue:
