I use a custom ribbon for Word. In the past month it started showing this error upon opening any Word document:

This has 2 buttons: OK, and OK to All. Because following the press of OK there will be a few more errors on other lines of the XML code, with the following build-in controls:
SymbolInsertGallery
ShapesInsertGallery
Office must have made an update and enabled a feature to show errors in custom ribbon (dotm) files. Because I've been using the same custom ribbon for Word since 2018 without any issues whatsoever.
A method to stop these errors is to go Options - Advanced - General, then uncheck "Show add-in user interface errors"
But this only stops the errors from showing, and doesn't fix the problem.
