First of all, go to Excel - File - Options - Proofing - AutoCorrect Options... - Autoformat As You Type and make sure all 3 checkboxes are selected.

While also here, a tip for when a table will not update formulas on newly inserted row:
- in the problem columns, delete all formulas except for the ones on the first row
- enter in edit mode in each cells on the first row and press enter so that the formula is reapplied on the entire column
- do this for all problem columns
- formulas should now update automatically for all new rows in the table
