Similarly to:

NVIDIA cache folders can be moved to another drive to free up space on C drive.

This time, as opposed to the Chrome User Profile folder, I chose to do a Junction instead of a Symlink.

Main differences between Junction and Symlink

Directory Junction (/J)
- Best for: Moving folders between local drives (C to D)
- Requires Admin? NO
- Driver Compatibility: Perfect (looks like a real local folder)
- Supports Network Paths? NO
- Path Type: Absolute paths only

Symbolic Link (/D)
- Best for: Pointing to network drives or cloud storage
- Requires Admin? YES
- Driver Compatibility: Variable (some security-tight apps block it)
- Supports Network Paths? YES
- Path Type: Absolute or Relative paths

My steps for making a junction were:

1. Delete the %LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\DXCache and GLCache folders
- had to go into Safe Mode for this as there are lots of apps locking the DXCache folder
- went to Start Menu and with SHIFT key pressed, I clicked Restart
- at the blue screen: Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup Settings -> Restart
- at the choices screen, pressed 4 to go into Safe Mode
- once logged in, went to %LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA and deleted both the DXCache and GLCache folders

2. Create new folders on another drive
- went to D, created an NVIDIA folder and inside made the DXCache and GLCache folders

3. Make Junctions
- opened CMD
- ran the following 2 commands:
mklink /J "%LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\DXCache" "D:\NVIDIA_Cache_Files\DXCache"
mklink /J "%LOCALAPPDATA%\NVIDIA\GLCache" "D:\NVIDIA_Cache_Files\GLCache"
- restarted the PC
