I had a few formulas referencing other files. I changed the name of those files, and wanted to update the formulas by pasting the new names.
To disable this:
- go to File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings... button
- on the left menu, select External Content.
- under Security settings for Workbook Links, select Enable automatic update for all Workbook Links (not recommended)
- click OK and OK again to save
