After reading lots of topics on content protection and rights, I found out that the best method is to investigate the options myself.
After searching a bit among the options I stumbled upon this simple solution of making a PPT presentation READ ONLY.

Here are the steps for Powerpoint 2010 (they seem to be the same for Powerpoint 2003):
1. Open the PPT file you want to protect from editing.
2. Go to FILE ---> SAVE AS
3. Near the SAVE button you will have an option called TOOLS. Click it and choose GENERAL OPTIONS...
A small window should appear, with 4 options: File encryption settings for this document, File sharing settings for this document, Privacy options and Macro security.
4. You have 2 password fields. We need to add a password in the second field called PASSWORD TO MODIFY.
Adding a password here will allow users only to open and view the file. In order to edit it they will need the password.
5. Enter the password you like and click the OK button. In the small window that appears now, re-enter the password and click OK.
6. Now you can click the SAVE button.
Now let's verify if it's read only:
1. Double click the file to open it.
2. A small box will appear asking for a password. You don't know the password so you look at your options: the 3 buttons you can click on: OK, Cancel, Read Only.
OK will give an incorrect password error.
Cancel will close the document.
Read Only will open the document.
3. Press the READ ONLY button.
4. The document opens and apparently all the tools are enabled... Let's try them out.
You will notice that you can select text in text boxes and you can select images. Too bad you cannot right click the selection.
You will notice that you can't add text to the text boxes, you can't delete text or images.
The copy button is active so let's try and copy some text.
Select it, click the copy button (or CTRL+C), open a notepad document and hit paste.

This is a good method to make files read only (for real) without needing a windows live account or any other software installed. It's easy and effective.

Am nevoie pentru modicarile care le fac pentru blogul meu...
Salutare, sunt Nelu Mirea. De ce inca un blog despre arhitectura si nu numai? Deoarece sunt de parere ca am ceva de spus. Putem discuta despre arhitectura, fashion, fotografie si despre tot ce este frumos in general, ma puteti gasi pe blogul meu in fiecare zi. In timpul meu liber imi place sa intreprind tot felul de proiecte DIY si sunt un fan al site-urilor de design interior....
