There's the lengthy methods like brushing your teeth, rinsing your mouth, etc etc, but if you're on a date and don't have the time, try munching on some parsley (most restaurants use this as a garnish, and you can usually ask for some on the side if they don't), anything with citrus (lemon, orange juice, etc).
A few other methods: -Coffee is a great way to rinse your mouth, but beware, you'll have coffee breath afterwards which can be just as bad as onion breath sometimes; however, coffee breath is easier to mask with mints. -Always try to get a dessert that's got some kind of fruit in it. -Try after dinner drinks - alcohol in mouthwash is what kills the germs causing bad breath, and hopefully if it doesn't work your date will be too tipsy to notice!! -And as Rachael Ray always says, two onions cancel each other out.
Okay, mostly this is date advice because I find that's the only time I worry about onion breath, but it could work in other situations too.
