Tested on Windows 10:
Launch Regedit.
Navigate to this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\
Underneath \Explorer, create:
a) A new Key called: Shell Icons (note plural IconS, and the space between words)
b) In Shell Icons, create a new String Value (REG_SZ) called: 29
Double click on 29 and insert the following value: C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll,49
Logoff and log back on again, or restart your PC.
Note: On different Windows installations the number after .dll might be different than 49.
If the icon corresponding to index 49 is not the right one (transparent, as in you should see full icon of application), right click any shortcut - Change icon - open shell32.dll and see where is the not ok icon.
Then look for the transparent icon, and count from 49 forward or backward to get the right index in your case.

But there's no need for an icon from an outside source, since the required icon can be found within the Windows folder (see post above).
