I have a list with 100 folders named "First Name Last Name". For example: John Smith.

I want to rename them to: Last Name, First Name. So John Smith becomes Smith, John.

For this you need 2 programs.
The first one is a software called Renamer. It's free and can be downloaded from HERE.
The second is MS Excel (or a surrogate of excel, from openoffice for example).

Install Renamer, open it, navigate to the desired folder where all your files are located.
From the list on the right, select all the names and copy them. Paste in cell A1 in excel.
You will now have a long list of names.

John Smith
Paul Bettany
Chris Brown
etc.

Select all the names then go to the DATA ribbon and somewhere in the middle you have a button named TEXT TO COLUMNS. Click that and a small window will open.
DELIMITED will be selected by default and it is our case, so click NEXT. From the list of delimiters select SPACE and click NEXT.
In the DESTINATION field you can choose a different destination, but for now I am going to leave $A$1 and click on the FINISH button.
(for more info about text to columns, please check this link:)

Now that you have them split into two columns, we must concatenate them.
In C1 write this formula:
=CONCATENATE(B1;", ";A1)

Please notice that after , there is a space.

Now drag the formula all the way down. Your list should be:
Smith, John
Bettany, Paul
Brown, Chris
etc.

Select the entire list and hit CTRL+C, go to Renamer and paste the list onto the existing one and replace all the names.
After that, to finish renaming, just hit F10 or click the RENAME button which is located somewhere above the list.
