1. Click in the document where you want to insert the date.
2. Click the “Insert” tab on the command ribbon.
3. Click the “Date & Time” button in the Text group to open the Date and Time dialog box with a list of formats (it's on the far right of the ribbon).
4. Click the desired format in the pane. Click the “Update Automatically” button to add a tick to the check box.
5. Click the “OK” button to close the dialog box and insert the formatted date in your document. When you reopen this document on another day, the current date displays.
