I need to enter several files and read some data in them on our local network, and would like my colleagues to have the possibility to enter the files and edit them if they need to.
To open as Read-only:
- while in Excel, go to File - Open - Browse
- browse to your file and select it but do not open yet
- next to the Open button there is a small arrow pointing down, click it and choose Open as read-only
- the file will then be opened as read-only
