In order to use my Outlook 2019 desktop application on a yahoo account I need to first generate a password from the yahoo account in my browser - Account Info - Account Security.
I have to generate a password there that will be available for 3 or 6 months. After it expires, the desktop application will ask for a new password and I have to go again in the browser account and generate another password.
If, for some reason, you want to change that password prior to when it automatically expires, you will have to update the password manually in Outlook desktop application - it won't ask for a password automatically since the old one is not yet expired.
To update it manually, in Outlook desktop application:
1. Go to File - Info
2. Make sure the right account is selected, then click on Account Settings
3. Click on Server Settings
4. Remove current password (asterisks **************)
5. Paste new password and click Next
6. Wait for the update to happen, then click Done
