1. Open Word Options (File - Options)
2. Select Custom Ribbon
3. Click the Customize button next to Keyboard shortcuts
4. Under Categories select Home Tab
5. Under Commands look for EditFind
6. Click in the Press new shortcut key field and then press CTRL+F (which is already assigned to NavPaneSearch)
7. Press the Assign button
8. Click Close button then OK button
You can still open the default search (in the navigation pane) by using the Find button on the Home Tab.
If you want to go back to the default search, at number 5 above look for NavPaneSearch and do the rest of the steps above.
