Some newer phones automatically take pictures in the HEIC format which has its advantages compared to JPG or PNG.
However, Windows is not prepared to view these files without some additional codecs.
Therefore, to convert HEIC to JPG/PNG and more formats for free, you can use the following Microsoft Store app:
