You have a sentence in cell A1, for example:
"the quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
and you want to capitalize only the first letter of the cell. There isn't a direct formula for this, like there is in the case you want to capitalize the first letter of each word (using the PROPER formula).
To capitalize the first letter, write this in a new cell:
=CONCATENATE(UPPER(LEFT(A1;1));RIGHT(A1;LEN(A1)-1))
if it doesn't work, replace ; (semicolon) with , (comma).
